The Essex County Construction and Road Closures Update for October 9, 2026.

Essex County Council has ratified the tentative agreement reached with CUPE Local 2974.2, which represents more than 300 paramedics and support staff with Essex-Windsor EMS.

Dan Metcalfe, the County of Essex’s Emergency Measures Coordinator, has been named the 2026 Volunteer of the Year by the Great Lakes Water Safety Consortium (GLWSC). 

The County of Essex has reached a tentative three-year agreement with Essex-Windsor EMS paramedics and support staff represented by CUPE Local 2974.2.

The County of Essex believes it is important to provide residents with accurate information about both its bargaining position and the continued delivery of paramedic services.

This position is permanent part-time.

There will be a meeting of Essex County Council on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, which is scheduled to commence at 6:00 PM. The agenda has been published, and members of the public may view or download the County Council Agenda on the County website.

The County of Essex has begun the fifth and final phase of the County Road 42 reconstruction project ahead of schedule, following early completion of work on previous phases.
