Emergency Preparedness Week: ‘Be Ready for Anything’

Essex County residents are being reminded this week to be prepared for other emergencies while still dealing with a global pandemic.

May 2-8 is Emergency Preparedness Week, an initiative by all levels of government in Canada to promote emergency preparedness for events like the rapid spread of COVID-19.

Emergency Preparedness: Be Ready for Anything is this year’s theme. Extreme heat, floods, tornadoes and nuclear incidents are among the other disasters that can strike Essex County without notice and escalate quickly.

How can you as an individual or family be ready? Know the risks, make a plan and put together an emergency kit.

For more information see Emergency Management Ontario’s Be Prepared web page and the Government of Canada’s Get Prepared website.
