New Community Safety and Well-Being Map Launched

Starting today, Windsor-Essex residents have access to a new informative and interactive mapping tool as part of groundwork for the Windsor Essex Regional Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWB).

The Regional Community Safety and Well-Being Asset Map is an interactive tool that highlights the physical locations of community assets, including local institutions, organizations, services and citizen associations that serve as positive community resources, from emergency responders and education to food insecurity and health services and more.

More than 1,200 community assets are identified and categorized on the map to provide a simpler view of available resources across the region. Work continues with CSWB partners to build upon the assets identified in this map to create an even more comprehensive tool to highlight the great resources available in Windsor-Essex.

The effort to build the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan was launched earlier this year.  The hope is to create a community where everyone feels safe, has a sense of belonging, has access to services and opportunities, and can have their needs met across Windsor and Essex County. Since the project’s launch, residents have participated in virtual public meetings and provided feedback through a community survey. The addition of the CSWB Asset Map is just the latest step in the process. 

The goal of the plan is to determine the priorities and concerns of residents across a number of topics, including financial security, mental and physical health, education, crime, housing, and other factors that impact their community’s safety and well-being.
