Public Information Centre About Plans for County Road 22 to be Held June 17

The latest information about a study aimed at identifying strategies and design alternatives for County Road 22 in Lakeshore will be presented at a virtual public information centre June 17.

The County of Essex – with the Municipality of Lakeshore as a key stakeholder – has hired WSP Consultants to investigate alternatives for the future of County Road 22 from East Puce Road to Belle River Road.

This heavily used county road is a critical link between the City of Windsor and municipalities of Tecumseh and Lakeshore. The section that is the subject of this study is in an area that has seen significant development in recent years and continues to grow.

The goals of this study include:

  • Identifying ways to improve roadway safety and address capacity concerns.
  • Revisit the preferred design solution for County Road 22 outlined in the 2006 Class Environmental Assessment and subsequent recommendation made in the 2012 County Wide Active Transportation System Master Plan.
  • Provide a preferred alternative design to County Road 22 that improves service while also enhancing access for active mobility along the corridor.

The virtual public information centre will include a presentation about the project followed by a question and answer period with the members of the project team.

It will be held June 17 at 6:30 p.m. and can be accessed at this web link: https://www.countyofessex.ca/CR22PIC.

More information is available on the project web page. A recording of the public information centre presentation will be available on the project web page after June 17.

Comments can be submitted on the PlaceSpeak project website after the public information centre until July 29.
